Vertical bits = speed!!!

Drive sizes are always rounded off to the nearest integer in decimal gigabyes. 320GB means 320 billion bytes or 320*1000*1000*1000. When you format the drive, the size is measured in binary gigabytes. 298 GB (binary) means 298*1024*1024*1024, which equals 319,975,063,552 bytes (or 320GB).
Every drive manufacturer explains somewhere on their website that "For drive storage capacity, 1 gigabyte = 1,000,000,000 bytes (or one billion bytes)." See http://www.seagate.com/support/glossary/index.html#M

Excellent drive due to its quietness and speedy. No problem so far, no conflict with my other drives. I've load windows XP pro which took about 20 minutes. When you order 320G you only get about 298G. Working like a charm since I plugged it into my P5WD2. The price you can't complain about it......
