I bought this to read smart media and xd. It works with smart media fine. The xd memory (which goes into the same slot at the smart media) is almost impossible to push in, unless you use a flash light at wiggle around while trying to insert. Very dissappointed in the xd slot. otherwise it fine if you don't use XD.
